Since founding her own company, Pero has gone on to become an Emmy-nominated producer, a sought-after strategic consultant, and an active leader in the media and entertainment industry. Pero currently serves on CMSI’s Documentary Power Research Institute’s Advisory Group, is a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Television Academy, and is the immediate past Chair of New York Women in Film & Television’s Advisory Board and former Board Member of Women in Film & Television International . She was named by Cynopsis Media as a 2019 Top Woman in Media in Community Building.
Pero’s portfolio includes the acclaimed films THE TALE and THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING and a wide swath of film impact campaigns and needle-moving projects. Prior to her film producing work, Pero was an executive at MTV, Rainbow Media/Cablevision (now AMC Networks), and the Taproot Foundation, and she began her career as a public policy analyst with the U.S. Federal Government.
Pero is on faculty at the Stony Brook University Killer Films’ MFA in Film program. She holds a graduate degree in Public Affairs and Policy and advanced studies in Media. Simone is also a frequent public speaker on a variety of social impact topics for the public, private, and nonprofit arenas.
